The Clayton State University Department of Recreation & Wellness is proud to host the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America’s (AFAA) semi-annual APEX event in the University’s Student Activities Center from Feb. 8 to Feb. 10, 2013.
During APEX, AFAA, the world's largest fitness and TeleFitness® educator, offers certifications and workshops in multiple cities for the special price of only $99 per day, per program. The training is targeted to primary group exercise instructor and kickboxing instructors seeking certification for the first time, or renewing a certification.
AFAA is the world's largest fitness and TeleFitness® educator. Since 1983, AFAA has issued more than 300,000 certifications to fitness professionals from 73 countries worldwide. Each year, health clubs and studios host more than 3,000 educational workshops nationwide.
AFAA is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The DETC is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education; and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), which meets IHRSA's 2005 recommendation on accreditation for fitness certification organizations. AFAA also has full status with the National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE), additional accreditation by Vital Research and membership in the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE), formerly known as NOCA. AFAA also adheres to all American College of Sport Medicine guidelines.

The primary group exercise instructor certifications will take place on Friday, Feb. 8, and Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, while the kickboxing instructor certification will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.
