College of Business Maintains Prestigious AACSB Business Accreditation

May 05 2016

The College of Business of Clayton State University has maintained its Business Accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs. Today, there are 764 business schools in 52 countries and territories that maintain AACSB Accreditation. (For the most recent information visit,
“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”

Dr. Avinandan (Avi) Mukherjee, Dean of the College of Business, sees a bright future ahead. "AACSB Accreditation signifies the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Less than 5% of more than 16,000 schools worldwide granting business degrees have earned AACSB Accreditation. AACSB-accredited schools have the higher quality faculty, deliver more relevant and challenging curriculum, and provide outstanding educational and career opportunities that are not always found at other non-accredited business schools. AACSB-accredited schools produce graduates that are highly skilled and more desirable to employers than non-accredited schools," said Dean Mukherjee. “The multi-year continuous improvement review process leading to the maintenance of accreditation requires adherence to rigorous internal and peer reviews while developing and implementing the College’s strategic plan and activities to align with AACSB's accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.”
