The Clayton State Lakers are hosting the “It’s Time for Spring Cleaning” shoe drive to benefit Soles4Souls® Inc.
Soles4Souls collects, recycles and reuses shoes from warehouses of footwear companies and closets from individuals, distributing usable shoes to people in need around the world. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away more than 13 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes. The shoes have been distributed in 125 countries, including Haiti, Kenya, Nepal and the United States.
The Clayton State University community and the public are invited to drop off shoes at any of the following locations on campus; the lobby of the Athletics and Fitness Center, the lobby of the Student Activities Center, the lower lobby of the Student Center, just outside of the Bookstore in the Student Center, and in the front lobby of Laker Hall. Every donation will support the charity’s initiative to distribute 11 million pairs of shoes in 2011.
Additionally, to assist with the shipment of the shoes collected, monetary donations may be made as well. Donations may be made at the Athletics and Fitness Center, Room E-26. The Lakers’ “It’s Time for Spring Cleaning” shoe drive will continue through Friday, Apr. 29.
