Clayton State University librarians Dr. Gordon Baker and Erin Nagel were recently honored by the 2014 Joint Conference of the Georgia Council of Media Organizations (Georgia COMO) and the Southeastern Library Association (SELA).
Baker, Clayton State’s dean of libraries, received the Mary Utopia Rothrock Award from SELA, the organization’s highest award, that was first given in 1976 and is funded by a bequest of the late Mary Utopia Rothrock. The award is presented to a librarian who has contributed substantially to the furtherance of librarianship in the southeast during a career. Baker’s honor was the first time the Rothrock Ward had been given since 2008.
Assessment and Marketing Librarian Nagel’s honor was part of the Georgia Library Association’s Team Award. Along with Susan Bailey from Emory University; Ameet Dosh from Georgia Tech; Jennifer Jones from Georgia State; and Sonya Gaither from Gordon State; Nagel was recognized for organizing and planning the first Southeastern Library Assessment Conference in 2013.
