Clayton State University Associate Professor of Health Care Management Dr. Sandy Weinberg is racking up the frequent flyer miles this semester.
Having recently returned from a presentation in Bulgaria, Weinberg is currently in Ireland to speak, after which he'll head off to another exotic location -- suburban Philadelphia.
Weinberg's travels started last month with a trip to the Actavis site in Dupnitsa, Bulgaria. Weinberg notes that Actavis, a producer of generic drugs and tablets, is probably the world's largest such facility, with 1.5 million square feet. Weinberg spoke there about FDA regulation for Information Systems and Manufacturing Facilities, the subject of his most recent (2011) book, "Cost Contained Regulatory Compliance."
On Thursday of this week (Sept. 22), he'll be speaking to Merck in Cork, Ireland, on "Regulatory Inspections and Compliance in Process Manufacturing" to an audience that will include 50 to 60 representatives of European pharmaceutical companies.
Finally, come December, he's on a Pfizer program on FDA Good Manufacturing Practices at that company's Pennsylvania facility in Collegeville, Pa.
