As a mater of fact, our Homecoming theme is Mardi Gras this year! You can celebrate Mardi Gras Laker style when you arrive! Our basketball teams will go up against Young Harris with the Women’s game starting at 3 p.m. and the Men’s game starting at 5:30 p.m. I hope you can make the games! Have a good flight to Atlanta!

Looks like you guys had a great time! It sounds like Clayton State is exactly what I am looking for! I would love to come cheer on the Lakers for Homecoming. I will send a message when I land in the US!

It is! We have 12 sports teams, and our student-athletes are some of the best! Our 2010-2011 women’s basketball team won the NCAA Division II national championship! You will really get to see our team spirit at Homecoming on February 20. Here I am with our Alumni Director, Leila Tatum and an Alumni Ambassador Paul Lawless at our tailgate party last year, it was so much fun!

So exciting! I bet the students are very proud of their university! Cheering on the Lakers must be a lot of fun!

We had a few movies film here last spring and summer! Last year we even had the Vampire Diaries TV show film on campus! This week we found out three of our students won the Yelp Reel Local Film Festival! Read their story: http://bit.ly/20qv9ZP

That’s awesome! Has Clayton State hosted any Hollywood films on campus? I’ve heard people say “Atlanta is the Hollywood of the south.” Maybe they’ll do some filming on campus and you can meet some movie stars!!

We have bachelor’s degree programs and master’s level programs, too. One of our newest programs is the Bachelor of Arts in Film, which prepares students for working with major Hollywood level productions. We also have our own film studio – one of the few studios of its kind on a university campus in the country – and a film certificate through Continuing Education.

You are in London? Our students have had great experiences with our study abroad program in London. This May, our students will have the opportunity to study literature in London for English course credit.

Clayton State’s campus is beautiful!

We have 192 acres and 5 lakes. The largest lake, Swan Lake, actually is home to a swan, Emily. Clayton State’s park-like setting is one of its most talked-about features. We are only 15 minutes from Atlanta, but you will love the slower pace and campus beauty. You can see some highlights in our Virtual Viewbook here: http://claytonstate.university-tour.com/

Our faculty to student ratio is 22:1. Our faculty are some of the best in their disciplines and are a big part of our supportive community. Together with our staff and administration, we have been on the AJC’s Top 100 Workplaces list for the past four years. In addition to our faculty helping students, we also opened the Center for Advising and Retention in the fall, so advisors can help students stay focused and on track for graduation!

Fun! It’s great they made a replica to keep that tradition alive! Tell me more about the campus and classroom environment!

We have 7,000 students! I think one of the coolest traditions is how I came to be the Clayton State mascot. (http://www.clayton.edu/loch/the-legend) Many of our older alumni will also remember the Bent Tree, which was once a gathering spot on campus. Now a likeness of the Bent Tree is outside our James M. Baker University center. It’s a really fun part of our campus history!

It looks like the students had a great time! How many students do you have at Clayton State? Do you have any cool campus traditions?

So cool! We have international students from all over the globe. I cheer on many of them on our sports teams! Our biggest exchange partnership is with Health Sciences University in South Korea. We send our students there, and their students come here. We also have lots of study abroad opportunities in the spring and summer. Our students take “me” along with them and here are some photos!

Hey, Nessie! My name is Loch, and I cheer for the Lakers at Clayton State just south of Atlanta, GA. If you are interested in a mascot exchange opportunity, we have top-notch academic programs, and we can cheer on the Lakers together. It would be awesome to have another mascot here to help cheer! Maybe you would be interested in spring semester classes? You can join us for Homecoming in February!

Looking for a University with tons of school spirit and a mascot exchange program. I love to travel, and I would love the opportunity to come study and help support the athletics program! Any mascots out there have suggestions?
