Collection and Resource Management Websites

This page provides links to websites that are used by the staff of the Library's Collection and Resource Management Department. Some of these web sites are subscriptions that require a user ID and password to access the site. Password protected sites are available only to Library staff.

Acquisitions Sites

Amazon.com Commercial vendor used by Clayton State Library to fill selected book and audiovisual orders.
Baker & Taylor Academic Order interface for the wholesale book and entertainment vendor used by Clayton State Library. User ID and Password required.
Blackwell Collection Manager A web-based acquisitions and collection development system used to place order with Blackwell Book Services. User ID and Password required.
DeepDiscount.com Source for books and audio visual materials.
Films Media Group Distributes audio visual materials produced by Films for the Humanities & Sciences, Cambridge Educational, Shopware, Meridian, and Films on Demand.
LexisNexis LexisNexis Print & CD Service Center provides assistance with Matthew Bender, Michie and Shepard's titles. User ID and Password required.
Media Education Foundation Media Education Foundation produces and distributes documentary films and other educational resources to inspire critical reflection on the social, political, and cultural impact of American mass media.
Shop PBS PBS online store is a source for programs broadcast on PBS.
West Provides assistance with West subscriptions and source for materials on law and legal matters.

Binding Sites

ABLE Web site used to prepare materials for binding. User ID and Password required.
National Library Bindery Bindery used by Clayton State Library to bind periodical volumes and damaged books.

Cataloging Sites

Cataloger's Desktop Access to the most widely used cataloging documentation resources in an integrated, online system. User ID and Password required.
Cataloger's Toolkit Online documentation and downloadable installation modules for Gary Strawn's Cataloger's Toolkit program, and other Toolkit related software.
Class Web World Wide Web access to Library of Congress Classification. User ID and Password required.
GIL Galileo Interconnected Libraries. Provides links to information on the GIL Libraries and the GIL Catalogs.
GIL@Clayton The Clayton State University Library On-line Catalog of materials held by the Library.
GIL Download Site Centralized site where University System of Georgia Libraries can locate software and other programs needed to support the GIL catalogs . User ID and Password required.
GIL Web Reports Site where University System of Georgia Libraries can pick up web reports associated with the GIL catalogs. User ID and Password required.
Library of Congress The Library of Congress is the nation's oldest federal cultural institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections.
Library of Congress Authorities Use Library of Congress Authorities to browse and view authority headings for Subject, Name, Title and Name/Title combinations; and download authority records in MARC format for use in a local library system
Library of Congress Online Catalog Use this website to search for and display catalog records for the over 12 million books and other items in the collections of the Library of Congress.

OCLC OCLC Online Computer Library Center is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing the rate of rise of library costs. More than 71,000 libraries in 112 countries and territories around the world use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library materials.
OCLC Connexion Connexion allows users to create and edit high-quality bibliographic and authority records and then share them with the entire OCLC cooperative. User ID and Password required.

Ebsco EBSCO Information Services provides e-journal, e-book, and e-journal package and print subscriptions, e-resource management tools, full-text and secondary databases, and related services for all types of libraries, research organizations and corporations.
Ebsconet EBSCONET is an interactive, Web-based subscription management system designed to help a library efficiently order, access, manage and evaluate print and electronic journals. User ID and Password required.
Proquest UMI Microfilm Source for microfilm copies of periodical volumes as well as other microfilm titles.
United States Book Exchange The United States Book Exchange is a nonprofit organization which supplies back issues of scholarly periodicals, trade journals, popular magazines and other serials to libraries worldwide.

Processing, Preservation, and Book Repair Sites

Dartmouth College Book Repair Manual The web version of the Simple Book Repair Manual was created by members of Preservation Services, Dartmouth College Library.
Lyrasis Preservation Services The mission of Preservation Services is to improve institutions' abilities to maintain long-term, cost-effective access to information resources in both traditional and networked collections.
