The Division of Music and Department of Visual
and Performing Arts is hosting two related music events from Nov. 3 to
Nov. 8: the Georgia state competitions for Music Teachers National
Association (MTNA), and the Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA)
Conference. As part of the conference, a concert, which is open to the public will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, featuring the Clayton State University Orchestra and Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra, the Clayton State Chorale and the Clayton State Music Drama Workshop. The concert will also feature a world premiere performance of a composition commissioned for the Conference and performed by Alex Benford, organist, and Clayton State alumna, Elena Cholakova, pianist. Clayton State vocalists will perform excerpts from H.M.S. Pinafore by Gilbert & Sullivan, and two GMTA Concerto Competition winners join the combined orchestras.
Presented by the Department of Visual and Performing Arts/Division of Music, this unique concert will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
