Charles Phipps is the IEP/ESL Coordinator and brings more than 13 years of experience working with international adult students into the fold at Clayton State University. Charles is originally from Atlanta, where he attended and graduated from Morehouse College. After graduating, Charles joined the U.S. Peace Corps for a two-year service in the African nation of Zambia. It was while living and working in Zambia that he got his start teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
Since returning to America, Charles has held several positions within the field of international education, including positions at Georgia Christian University, Georgia Piedmont Technical College, Atlanta Public Schools’ Office of World Languages, and Kennesaw State University, most recently.
Charles is very excited to be overseeing the launch of CSU’s very own Intensive English Program (IEP) for the Spring semester, 2017. He looks forward to helping expand the English language support programs for international students and to making CSU into a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging place to study for English language learners.
