Fund Drive Co-Chairs
Faculty Co-Chair Barbara Musolf, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Biology
“I vividly remember my interview with the biology faculty at Clayton State for a tenure track position. In response to my question about what she valued most at Clayton State, Michelle Furlong stated that she really loved the students here and the comradery in the department. I quickly found myself sharing those same feelings for both students and my colleagues here at CSU. I give much of my time to students and the university but sometimes money is what is needed. While I contribute to all my alma maters in addition to Clayton State, I give more to Clayton State because it clearly supports best what I value—support for our students and for services and supplies that the university provides to enhance our students’ education. Every year I increase my pledge and I encourage you to find a little extra funds to either increase your pledge or to start participating in the Faculty Staff Fund Drive. Our 85% participation rate is rare for an organization. Let’s continue to nourish and grow the number of individuals that make up this rare species of educational institutions.”
Staff Co-chair Phalando Lawson
In the five years I have been employed here at Clayton State, I’ve come to know this campus and connect with the students, faculty and staff who make this institution a great place to work.
I think about the many times I have given back to my Laker family—whether that is hosting a cookout for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, booking talent for Alumni Weekend or being the PA announcer and working the scoreboard at games. These moments have given me the opportunity to engage with students and be a part of their positive experience here at Clayton State.
But my support is not limited to my time and talent. It’s extends to being a donor. Knowing that I am playing an important role in the academic success of the students I see each day is more than rewarding; it’s a testament to my commitment to wanting to ensure that the dreams and goals of our students are realized.
I give out of the generosity of my heart. I love people. You can say that’s the southern in me.
About the Faculty/Staff Fund Drive
The campus family is one of University Advancement’s most important constituencies. It provides significant endorsing power and is an important source of support for the university. As faculty and staff interact with the community by providing education, research and services, they play a major role in linking the university to the surrounding communities and beyond.
The Annual faculty Staff Fund Drive during a 4-week time period. It is during this 4-week time period faculty and staff are able to make contributions to support Clayton State’s individual programs, scholarships, and special projects. There are over 300 funds that range from faculty/staff development, athletics, scholarships and grants, the Women’s Forum, study abroad programs, to name a few.
Although the active phase takes place during a 4-week period, faculty and staff can make a gift year-around and gifts may be given at any time
