Distance Learning (DL) Orientation Policy
New students enrolling in an online major may take the Online Orientation to the University after acceptance by the Office of Admissions. You may schedule the orientation after acceptance via the Swan. After completion of the online orientation, your transfer credits will be evaluated by the Registrar's Office. Any delay in completing the Orientation means a longer wait for the evaluation of transfer credits. Advisement and registration occurs next. Complete details are found in the Next Steps letter emailed to you by the Admissions Office at acceptance.
Currently enrolled students that completed the DL orientation will not be required to attend the main campus orientation AS LONG AS the campus change request is done within the same academic year (without a break).
Students who update from one semester to the next, but who’ve completed some form of orientation within that academic year would also not be required to attend the main campus orientation. Students may see that an orientation hold was generated in this case so send an email to Celena Milner requesting that the hold be removed. Be sure to include your Laker ID as well as your reasoning for making the request.
When does Online Orientation Open?
Beginning Summer 2014 and going forward, online orientation will open the same day as priority-advisement, which is a month before registration begins for returning students.
Students may contact the advisor AFTER transfer credits are listed on the DUCK record. New online students will be given a time ticket for the 5th day of registration.
