The CSRA has three meetings each year -- one in the fall (mid to late October), one in the winter (the first or second week of February) and one in the spring (the first or second week of May). Members are reminded of the meeting dates through newsletters and emails sent by the Communication Chair.
The fall meeting is held on campus during the University's Open Enrollment period. Part of the meeting is an information session conducted by a representative from the Department of Human Resources (HR). Retirees have an opportunity to receive an update from HR concerning insurance and other benefits and to ask related questions at this session. The CSRA business meeting follows the HR Information Session. At that meeting pertinent business matters and other pending matters of interest and concern are discussed. Election of officers takes place in even-numbered years.
Because this fall meeting usually has the largest attendance, another primary purpose of the fall meeting is to give members an opportunity to renew acquaintances and to visit with friends. To accommodate this, coffee and pastries are served prior to the meeting, and a catered lunch generally follows the meeting. Members and members' guests pay for their own lunch.
The February and May meetings are off-campus luncheons with a special speaker. If necessary, business may be conducted, but the primary purpose is to socialize. The Vice-President and the Program Committee select speakers but suggestions from members are always welcome.
The CSRA holds an annual fund-raising event for the CSRA Graduate Scholarship Endowment Fund. Currently, the event is a Gourmet Dinner and Wine Pairing held on campus in the Harry S. Downs Center for Continuing Education. This is an early spring event, and all retirees as well as active administrators, faculty, and staff are invited to attend.
Each fall the CSRA participates in the Benefits Fair sponsored by the Department of Human Resources. The purpose is to raise awareness among active employees of our organization and to encourage any Clayton State employee who is currently planning retirement to join the CSRA. Members of the CSRA are also encouraged to attend the Fair where they have the opportunity to visit with vendors and ask questions.
