You will understand the basic tenants of leadership, the strategies that undergird motivation, motivating team member engagement, effectively communicating, resolving conflict, and building a team that gets results.

This course is intended for individuals who are new to leadership and supervision with less than 6 months tenure in their leadership position. It is additionally beneficial for those who have been in a supervisory position for a longer period of time, but realize a need to broader associated competencies for effective leadership outcomes. A good command of the English language is required.
Study materials will be in the form of handouts.

Teaching Methodology and Assessment:
Method of instruction will include instructor lectures, self assessment exercises, role play scenarios, and case studies. Students will have to complete a group case study analysis using strategies and principles discussed in the course and present a report to the class. There will be a final exam incorporating critical strategies discussed in class that are required for successful supervisor execution. There will be homework assignments that require research and completion.
Criteria for Successful Completion: At a minimum, for a Clayton State University Continuing Education Certificate and CEUs: 80% attendance, active participation and a completed evaluation for the course. The grade will be assessed on the following criteria:
