Target Audience: Designed as a thorough introduction to HR basics, the SHRM Essentials of HR Management course provides a solid foundation in human resource management that improves HR job performance across multiple job titles and functions.
Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
Teaching Methodology and Assessment: Class discussions, lecture, PowerPoint presentations and real life experiences. Assessment will include an exam will be completed and graded in class.
Criteria for Successful Completion: To receive a Clayton State University Continuing Education Certificate and CEUs, you must attend 80% of the class sessions, actively participate and complete all assignments. In addition, you must earn a grade of at least 70% on final exam.

Demetra Morgan, SPHR, has over 15 years of human resource experience, working in both the private and public sector, in industries such as manufacturing (union and non-union), sales, legal, fast food franchises, restaurants, higher education and State government. She has an affinity for organizational development and strategic planning, particularly with non-profits and community-based organizations. Her accomplishments include developing employee onboarding and orientation programs, policy manuals, standard operating procedures, employee handbooks, recruitment and retention strategies, professional development and training programs, job descriptions, performance appraisals, total compensation and benefits.
Her strengths include risk management, organizational planning, customer service, employment law, workforce development and training, employee and labor relations. She is well versed in strategic, operational and administrative HR functions, as she performs all three on a daily basis.
In 2011, she earned the certification of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), after completing continuing education courses at Clayton State University.
