Thank you for visiting the website for the College of Information & Mathematical Sciences (CIMS) at Clayton State University.
Computing, information and mathematical sciences have never been more relevant. Individuals who have specific training and expertise in the disciplines represented in CIMS are in high demand for careers that have the potential for high earnings and job satisfaction.
The Technology Association of Georgia reports that
Not only are technology jobs available and well-paying, several are among the best jobs to have. In U.S. News and World Report's 10 Best Jobs of 2012, half are in CIMS disciplines.
As a CIMS student, you will have excellent and caring instructors who are genuinely interested in your success. You will also have opportunities to become actively engaged in activities related to your interests with faculty members as well as opportunities for internships in industry and in schools. The Department of Mathematics is particularly strong in the number of opportunities for undergraduate students to be engaged in research with faculty members.
In addition to active learning opportunities, CIMS students have developed a community of scholars and colleagues through our very active student organizations: Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Math Club, and Women Interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Wi2STEM).These student group sponsor speakers, workshops, community outreach and service, and fun activities for the campus community.
Do you already have a Bachelor's Degree? If so, look into our graduate programs: Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics and Master of Archival Studies. Both programs provide opportunities for you to further your education in interesting and high-demand areas.
I hope you will take a close look at the programs in CIMS and contact us for a campus visit or just a chat. I look forward to hearing from you!
