Dr. Michael H. Deis, Professor of Management Emeritus, most recently taught Performance/Quality Management and Strategic Management classes at Clayton State University, where he focused on operational and performance improvement processes. He has over thirty years of academic and management experience and has worked in both the private and public sectors. Michael has taught middle school through graduate school, has worked as an industrial engineer for General Motors, as a director of a collections department, and as an assistant chief administrator and operations analyst in government. He has published over forty professional articles, primarily in management and instructional areas, and has authored, co-authored and presented papers at over fifty conferences. He holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Management from the University of Cincinnati, an M.B.A. from the University of Dayton, and an Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University. He was the first Director of the highly successful MBA program at Clayton State and served as College of Business Interim Dean from January 2013 through July 2014. Michael is a highly decorated educator, earning numerous award designations that include: the University System of Georgia's Excellence in Teaching Award, 2005-06; Clayton State University's Alice Smith Award, 2003; the College of Business Professor of the Year (2002, 05, 10); College of Business Research Professor of the Year, 2004; College of Business Outstanding Service Award, 2003; College of Business Teaching Professor of the Year, 2011; and the Outstanding Faculty Advisor for the Society for Advancement of Management (2000, 01, 04, 05, 06).
