Dear High School Student:
You are our future leaders. The environment you have been thrust into is extremely fast-paced, moving at an exponential rate of change. According to a recent survey, about 5 billion text messages were sent and received per day in 2009 (CTIA, 2009). You were born into a world of technology, a native to these incredible times. Your elders are immigrants and, in many ways, the world is following the youth of today in their lifestyle, technology usage, and visions.
Clayton State University would like to partner with you in the challenge to help you prepare for the future by providing a unique and exciting hands-on, university-level learning opportunity. Starting this year, Clayton State University will host a summer business academy involving selected high schools to provide an exceptional learning experience for students. The week-long academy challenges students to think critically and provides them with a taste of college life. The business academy is moderated by our top-notch professors from accounting, finance, management, and marketing. Topics will include entrepreneurship, business, ethics, free enterprise, teamwork, and personal skills.
I cordially invite you to participate in the 2014 Summer Entrepreneurship and Business Academy at Clayton State University. All meals are provided for this event and students will stay in student housing on campus for the week. The fee for accepted students is $395 for the entire week of housing, meals and program. The dates for the academy are June 15 through June 20 on the university’s beautiful Morrow Campus. Financial aid and scholarships are also available for selected students. Please check the website for additional information.
Previous attendees of similar business summer programs at leading universities claim that the experience is unforgettable and greatly rewarding. Also, students will receive credit for one future 3 credit-hour course at Clayton State University. Please thoughtfully consider the possibilities of joining us this summer and complete an application by the deadline listed on the website. There are a limited number of participants allowed. Please contact me with any questions or if you would like to meet to discuss this further.
