Dr. Mukherjee is Dean of the AACSB-accredited College of Business and Professor of Marketing and International Business at Clayton State University in Atlanta, Georgia. This role entails managing the entire College of Business as the chief academic, financial, personnel and administrative officer, responsible for faculty, students, curriculum, budgets, and external engagement. Before his Deanship, Dr. Mukherjee has been the Chairperson of the Marketing Department in the School of Business at Montclair State University, New Jersey. In that role, he led a multi-pronged comprehensive transformation of the department, which resulted in the Marketing Department becoming the largest department in the school in number of programs and number of graduating students.
Dr. Mukherjee has a uniquely international academic and professional background, having taught as full-time or visiting faculty in as many as 16 countries. Dr. Mukherjee has been a full-time faculty member in the United States (Clayton State, Montclair State, Penn State), United Kingdom (Bradford), Singapore (NTU) and India (IIM). He has been a visiting faculty at Rutgers Business School, NJIT, INSEAD, Copenhagen Business School, ESC Toulouse, and Kathmandu University, among others. Mukherjee earned his Ph.D. in Marketing at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India, which is consistently ranked among the Top 100 Business Schools across the world. Part of his doctoral work was conducted at the ESSEC Business School in Paris and his research was affiliated to the International Motor Vehicle Program of the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Dr. Mukherjee has published more than 100 scholarly articles in leading journals such as Journal of Retailing, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Communications of the ACM, Journal of Services Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Management, among others. Additionally, Dr. Mukherjee has directed executive development programs and consulted with companies in USA, UK, Denmark, India, Bangladesh, Singapore and Malaysia.
Dr. Avinandan Mukherjee is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing, a leading specialist reference resource of academic information and analysis, highlighting cutting edge research, new concepts and theories, and fresh practical ideas and initiatives that can be readily applied in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Mukherjee has been a member of the board of several organizations and president of the Business and Health Administration Association. He has also supervised six doctoral dissertations and was competitively chosen at Montclair State University as the only doctoral faculty from the School of Business in the Environmental Management Doctoral Program.
