The Engaged Learning Innovations (ELI) Academy is offered in conjunction with the Engaged Learning Initiative at Clayton State. The ELI Academy consists of a series of workshops and working sessions designed to take faculty members through the design and assessment process, give them the opportunity to work with faculty from other disciplines, and learn about the “best practices” of faculty in similar fields.
Workshop 1: Inquiry and Creativity: An Introduction
This workshop will focus on the methodology for integrating inquiry and creativity topics into courses. Participants will learn how to analyze content to identify relevant issues or projects that will challenge students to further research and explore potential solutions.
Workshop 2: Integrating Design and Assessment
This workshop will focus on how to use the learning goals and objectives for the course to inform the design and assessment of student learning. Participants will have the opportunity to begin to design activities and assessment instruments to use in their course.
Workshop 3: Curricular Focus Working Session
In this workshop, participants will meet with other faculty in similar disciplines to discuss and work together on ideas. This session will also feature presentations from peers who are already using inquiry and creativity in their courses.
Workshop 4: Presenting your Ideas
In this final session, participants will be given the opportunity to obtain feedback on their designs before implementing those changes in the classroom.
