The Community Engagement Academy is offered to support Clayton State's proposed Quality Enhancement Plan and its mission focus of community engagement. The Academy consists of a series of workshops and working sessions designed to take faculty members through the design and assessment process, give them the opportunity to work with faculty from other disciplines, and learn about the “best practices” of community engagement learning.
Workshops 1 & 2: The Pedagogy of Community Engagement
These workshops focus on the meaning of community engaged learning and on the methodology for integrating community engagement activities into courses. Participants will learn how to analyze content to identify relevant projects, infuse activities that promote reflections between engagement and content, and assessment methods to measure the impact of community engagement activities.
Workshops 3 & 4: Community Engagement Activities & Partners
These workshops focus on practical applications of community engagement in courses, ways to connect with community partners, and how to provide closure to students after they have engaged in community-based learning.
