I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Jill Lane will be serving as our new Assistant Vice President of Planning and Assessment. In this capacity, Dr. Lane will oversee strategic planning and implementation, accreditation, faculty affairs, curriculum development, and the academic catalog. Dr. Lane will also oversee the Center for Instructional Development, the Center for Academic Success, and the Office of Grants and Contract Programs.
Dr. Lane has a Doctor of Education in Instructional Systems degree from Pennsylvania State University, an Masters of Education and Computing in Education from Rosemont College, and a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Lane has a wide range of experience as both a researcher and a faculty member that makes her uniquely qualified for this new position at Clayton State. In addition to her undergraduate and graduate teaching, she was a Senior Research Associate for the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence at Penn State where she led numerous initiatives related to assessment, curriculum design, and online instruction.
Dr. Lane came to Clayton State in 2008 as the Director of the Center for Instructional Development. In 2010, she was appointed Dean of Assessment and Instructional Development and her new responsibilities included serving as our SACS liaison. In this role she led Clayton State’s extremely successful SACS reaccreditation review this past year. In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Lane is a tenured Professor of Instructional Design and Technology in the College of Information and Mathematical Sciences.
Dr. Lane combines a thorough understanding of regulations and best practices with a sense of humor and an ability to build effective teams to accomplish major projects. Her talents and experience will be put to good use as we seek to refine and implement the University’s strategic plan in the coming year.
