Jarrett Terry Named Assistant Vice President for Extended Programs
It is my pleasure to announce that Jarrett Terry has agreed to serve as our new Assistant Vice President for Extended Programs. He is currently the Assistant Dean for the College of Information and Mathematical Sciences, a position he has held here at Clayton State since 2012. As the Assistant Vice President for Extended Programs, Terry will work with a talented group of directors and staff to oversee off-campus instructional sites in Fayette and Henry Counties, the dual enrollment program, high school and community partnerships, Continuing Education, and the Office of International Programs. He also will work closely with Dr. Antoinette Miller and Bridgette McDonald in helping to implement our PACE and EDGE initiatives.
In addition to advising all of the CIMS students, Terry has led numerous activities to engage the University with the community. He was instrumental in bringing the First Lego League Super Regional Competition to Clayton State University and continued to support the CIMS faculty toward hosting this event annually. He also increased and improved partnerships between Clayton State University and a variety of organizations, including the United Way of Greater Atlanta, Clayton County Public Schools, Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics & Computing (CEISMC), Georgia Pacific, and Women In Technology.
Terry is completing his doctorate in Higher Education Management at the University of Georgia. He completed post-graduate work in engineering at Northwestern University and has a B.S. and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, Illinois. Prior to coming to Clayton State, he was an Engineering Instructor and STEM Outreach Coordinator at Georgia Perimeter College. And, he has worked in private industry as an engineer for the Ford Motor Company and other corporations. He will draw on all these experiences as he leads programs that extends the reach of Clayton State into the community.
Terry is a creative, collaborative, and collegial colleague who will continue to enhance Clayton State’s commitment to engaging with the surrounding community. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Terry to his new position at Clayton State.
