The Clayton State Department of English has two major events planned for March and April. In addition, at the invitation of President Hynes, one of the world's leading microbiologists will be speaking at Clayton State on Mar. 30.
On Thursday, Mar. 26, the Visiting Writers Reading Series, sponsored by the Dean’s Office of the College of Arts and Sciences, will be hosting Dr. Allen Gee. He will be lecturing from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., and will have a Reading from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., both in room G101 of the Arts & Sciences Building. Gee teaches fiction, prose forms and creative writing at Georgia College in Milledgeville. His essay collection, "My Chinese-America" is forthcoming in March 2015 and he is working on a novel, "Paul & Julia."
On Monday, Mar. 30, the Woods Distinguished Lecture Series 2014-2015 will be hosting Ronald Atlas from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in room UC272 of the James M. Baker University Center. A personal friend of Clayton State President Dr. Thomas Hynes, Atlas is one of the world's preeminent microbiologists. He will be speaking on, "From bioremediation of oil spills to bioterrorism: The magic of microbes."
Finally, the annual CYGNET Launch Party will be held Thursday, Apr. 23, at 5 p.m. in room G101 of the Arts and Science Building.
