Two Clayton State University faculty members and a staff member/alumnus are helping bring the Peach State Opera’s production of “The Elixir of Love” to the stage this winter. The current tour and the upcoming Atlanta performance of Peach State Opera’s production of “The Elixir of Love” has a distinctive Clayton State feel, thanks to faculty members Dr. Christina Howell, Dr. Kurt-Alexander Zeller, and alumnus/Spivey Hall staff member Ivan Segovia.
Howell, an associate professor of Music in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, is singing the principal soprano role of Adina. Zeller, coordinator of the Music Division and Professor of Voice, is the stage director of the production. Segovia, a graduate of the Clayton State music program is singing the principal role of Doctor Dulcamara.
Having already performed in Tifton, Ga., and Brunswick, Ga. The current Peach State Opera tour will take Howell, Segovia and Zeller to the Peacock Playhouse in Hayesville, N.C. on Saturday, Feb. 14 for a 7 p.m. performance that will also feature select members of the Union County High School Chorus from Blairsville, Ga. On Sunday, Mar. 1, at 3 p.m., “The Elixir of Love” will hit the stage at Cole Auditorium at Georgia Perimeter College, 555 N. Indian Creek Dr., Clarkston, Ga.
