About the Annual Fund
Endowment & Scholarships
Heritage Bank, Clayton State, and partnership have been synonymous for many years. Giving new meaning to corporate partnership, Heritage Bank leadership actively seeks opportunities for collaboration. For example, when President and CEO Leonard Moreland was asked to sponsor basketball, the Heritage Bank Holiday Classic was born. That relationship with athletics led to the realization that locker rooms in the athletics and fitness center were inadequate, Heritage Bank supplied funding for renovation.
A few years later, Heritage Bank sought to provide scholarship funding for deserving students. They created an endowment that, in perpetuity, will provide an annual scholarship. At the time, Chairman Moreland commented “Heritage Bank is an active supporter of our community. The university is an important asset to our community, and we want to help the school and their students flourish.”
Demonstrating their support of the community as a whole, Heritage Bank partnered with the College of Business at Clayton State to present a seminar entitled “Today’s Economy and FDIC Insurance.” Dr. Nikki Finlay and Dr. Reza Kheirandish, Professors of Economics from Clayton State were invited to participate with experts in the FDIC Atlanta office to present valuable information on the state of the economy and the importance of FDIC insurance. The free seminar was presented in three locations in Clayton, Henry and Fayette Counties.
And the partnership continues to thrive. Leonard Moreland is not only President and CEO of Heritage Bank, but he also currently serves as Chairman of the Clayton State University Foundation. Speaking to students and scholarship donors at the recently held Scholarship Recognition Luncheon, he commented that “It’s on a campus like this that dreams occur. As we go through life dreams evolve into reality. One of the roles of the Foundation is to make dreams become reality.”
